That icky background stress is so relatable!

The problem I’m currently coming up against, which I will also need to tap on, is that the part of me that does not want to work on the to-do list tasks does not want to participate in the tapping just so I can accept it and do the tasks. It says, “stop finding ways to optimize yourself so that you can perform and produce even when you’re exhausted.” So in order to make any progress, I’ve had to promise myself that tapping to improve my self-love and self-acceptance does not mean I am required to then be more productive. Unless I genuinely want to be. But I’m not doing this to achieve that, if that makes sense.

A similar thing happened with my art practice. I was working on a series that I came up with in order to pitch a showing of it at a local shop/gallery. I got to the final piece of the series, and discovered I feel completely unable to start it. I finally had to promise myself this morning that completing the piece does not require me to submit it, or anything else for a show. I can just finish it and then put it in a drawer with a bunch of other paintings if I want to. But finishing it is important, as is starting other pieces. Maybe I’ll decide to submit it down the road, maybe not. First I need to finish the damn thing if I even want to have a choice about it.

All this to say, it’s definitely baby steps for me, with lots of gentleness, compassion, and patience for where I am at. 🖤

I find everything you wrote so relatable, Jules! Sometimes we just need to BE as we are. Not optimized. Not productive. Just be!

I also love how you’re giving yourself the freedom to just do your artwork and then decide later what next steps you want to take (or not).

I think we can all benefit from giving ourselves the space to NOT know where we are going. There’s peace in the NOT knowing. And also magic to just let things unfold with a lot less planning and strategy beforehand.

It’s definitely a mindset shift that I need to practice. Because that’s not my default.

I am also meditating with a new mantra: “Just be. Just breathe. You have no where else to be right now. There’s no where else to go. Just be.” There’s something so relaxing about telling myself this lately.

Gentleness, compassion, and patience are exactly right. I wish lots of that for the both of us!

Thank you, Marisa!

Taking things one step at a time and allowing them to evolve on their own is definitely not my default, either! I am beginning to realize that being too rigid in my expectations of what I should be doing is actually preventing progress of any kind by creating blocks.

I love that mantra! I may try repeating it while tapping, and see what that does, too 😸.

I wish lots of that for us both as well!!! ✨🖤✨
