That icky background stress is so relatable!

The problem I’m currently coming up against, which I will also need to tap on, is that the part of me that does not want to work on the to-do list tasks does not want to participate in the tapping just so I can accept it and do the tasks. It says, “stop finding ways to optimize yourself so that you can perform and produce even when you’re exhausted.” So in order to make any progress, I’ve had to promise myself that tapping to improve my self-love and self-acceptance does not mean I am required to then be more productive. Unless I genuinely want to be. But I’m not doing this to achieve that, if that makes sense.

A similar thing happened with my art practice. I was working on a series that I came up with in order to pitch a showing of it at a local shop/gallery. I got to the final piece of the series, and discovered I feel completely unable to start it. I finally had to promise myself this morning that completing the piece does not require me to submit it, or anything else for a show. I can just finish it and then put it in a drawer with a bunch of other paintings if I want to. But finishing it is important, as is starting other pieces. Maybe I’ll decide to submit it down the road, maybe not. First I need to finish the damn thing if I even want to have a choice about it.

All this to say, it’s definitely baby steps for me, with lots of gentleness, compassion, and patience for where I am at. 🖤
